PITTSBURGH, PA — A well-known Pittsburgh TV reporter has left her station.

WPXI's Nicole Ford has stepped away from broadcasting for the moment. She made the announcement in a recent social media post.

"Journalism was always the dream — helping people and sharing their stories through both the darkest and brightest moments of their lives," she stated.

"This career has given me some of my best friends, shown me the power of strength and empathy, and truly changed my life.

"That’s why it’s not easy to share that I’m stepping away from the microphone for now. I’m excited to grow and challenge myself in new ways in a new career, with my husband and our fur baby by my side.

"To everyone who trusted me and welcomed me into your homes — you’ve left a lasting impact on my life, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Ford did not provide a reason for her departure.

According to her LinkedIn page, Ford also worked as a reporter at KDKA in Pittsburgh and as a reporter and weekend anchor in the Carolinas.
