Violent Night In Pittsburgh: 2 Separate Shooting Incidents

PITTSBURGH, PA — Two people were severely wounded Sunday night in separate incidents in the city.

At 11:45 p.m., police responded to a 1-round ShotSpotter alert in the 2400 block of Bedford Ave. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS took him to the hospital in critical condition.

The suspect fled on foot.

Several hours earlier, a man shot in the chest drove himself to a police station, authorities said.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, at around 7:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Chauncy Drive in the Bedford Dwellings neighborhood for a ShotSpotter alert totaling four rounds.

While officers were en route to the scene, a man with a gunshot wound to the chest arrived at the Zone 2 police station after driving himself there. EMS took him to a hospital in critical condition.

The suspect fled the scene on Chauncey Drive in a vehicle. License plate readers last identified the vehicle heading north, towards the McKees Rocks area. Officers are reviewing any available video footage and interviewing witnesses in the area.
