BETHEL PARK, PA — After purchasing Monroeville Mall earlier this year, Walmart now has acquired the Bethel Park Shopping Center on Library Road.
Walmart Real Estate Business Trust paid $39.6 million for the property, according to Allegheny County real estate records. The sale date is listed as May 5.
Walmart already has a store in the center. A Walmart official told the Pittsburgh Business Times that no immediate changes are expected at the 21-acre site, which also houses a Giant Eagle supermarket.

Walmart paid more for the Bethel Park location than it did for Monroveville Mall, which it purchased in January for $34 million.
While no final decision has been made as to whether a Walmart will be going into the 186-acre site, the retailer has no presence in Monroeville's densely-populated retail corridor. The nearest Walmart is in North Versailles, about five miles from the mall.
