Weather Alert Issued For Pittsburgh Area
The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for Pittsburgh and most of Western Pennsylvania.

PITTSBURGH, PA — This will not be a week where sunscreen is needed in the Pittsburgh area.
Several periods of heavy rainfall will be possible today in Western Pennsylvania, with amounts between 1 and 2 inches, and up to 3 inches of rain in more localized areas. With rain rates between 1 and 2 inches an hour possible, flash flooding will be a threat.
According to the National Weather Service, excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Extensive street floodingand flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.

A flood watch is in effect until 10 p.m. on Monday.

Localized flash flooding due to heavy rain in showers and thunderstorms will remain a possibility Tuesday and again on Thursday. Areas impacted by multiple rounds of rain will be most susceptible to flooding. Severe thunderstorm potential returns midweek.
