Missing Girl At 'Special Risk For Harm Or Injury,' Police Say
Her mother was taken into custody Saturday after she told police her 12-year-old daughter ran away from their Penn Hills home.

ALLEGHENY COUNTY – Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a missing 12-year-old girl who was last seen Thursday night at her home in Penn Hills and is believed to be at "special risk for harm or injury," authorities said Saturday night.
Her mother, Desmonique Raquel Hammonds, fled authorities earlier in the day after reporting her daughter, Alyee Hammonds, missing on Friday. She has since been taken into custody in Ohio, police said Saturday night.
Desmonique Raquel Hammonds first reported her 12-year-old daughter missing at about 7:30 a.m. Friday. She told authorities the girl ran away from their home in the 200 block of Arbor Lane and did not provide any more details, according to a news release from the Allegheny County Police Department.

Penn Hills police checked the home and did not locate Alyee Hammonds, according to the news release.
On Saturday afternoon, the Allegheny County Police General Investigations Unit and the Allegheny County Child Abduction Response Team joined the investigative effort. At about 3:10 p.m., authorities said Desmonique Hammonds drove away from her home in a white 2002 Mercedes Benz C240 sedan, which had an Ohio registration.

Penn Hills Police pursued the Mercedes but lost sight of it on the Hulton Bridge in Harmar Township, according to authorities. At the time, authorities said Hammonds was wanted for fleeing and eluding police and for questioning in the disappearance of Aylee Hammonds.
Late on Saturday night, authorities said police in Newport, Ohio, took Desmonique Hammonds into custody. They also took possession of her Mercedes Benz.
"Her daughter, 12-year-old Alyee Hammonds has not been located," police said Saturday night.
Alyee is described as a black female who is 5 feet tall and 100 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police said they believe she is at special risk of harm or injury.
Anyone sighting her or having information on her whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 or contact police immediately at 412-473-3000.
