In a Pennsylvania congressional district, one candidate named Mike Doyle wants to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle. Confusing, no?

PLUM, PA — Forgive Republicans if they get confused when casting their votes during the May 17 primary. Plum council president Mike Doyle will be on the ballot for the Republican nomination to replace - wait for it - U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle.
Doyle, the congressman, will retire at the end of the year. Doyle, the Plum council member, wants to succeed him in the 12th Congressional District, which includes Pittsburgh.
Doyle the Democratic congressman is not endorsing the Doyle the congressional candidate. He is backing Democratic Pittsburgh attorney Steve Irwin, who also is being backed by Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.

State Rep. Summer Lee of Swissvale also seeking is seeking the Democratic nomination and was endorsed this week by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Also seeking the Democratic nomination are University of Pittsburgh professor Jerry Dickinson, former Pittsburgh mayoral candidate Will Parker and Jeff Woodward, executive director of the Pennsylvania College Access Program.
