In PA U.S. House Race, Mike Doyle Running To Succeed Mike Doyle
In an unusual political twist, businessman Mike Doyle is vying for the congressional seat being vacated by retiring U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Forgive voters in Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District if they get confused next month when they go to cast their ballot and find they can vote for Mike Doyle. Many are apt to think, "Wait...isn't he retiring?"
Well, yes. U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle announced last year that he was stepping down after serving the district, which includes Pittsburgh, since 1995. But another Mike Doyle is determined to keep that name in Congress.
Doyle, the council president of the Pittsburgh suburb of Plum, is the Republican nominee to replace Doyle. He will face progressive Democratic candidate Summer Lee of Swissvale, who currently is a state representative.

Doyle serves as a vice-president for Excalibur Insurance Management Services in its Pittsburgh office. His positions on issues are a stark contrast to those of the Mike Doyle currently holding the office he covets.
"Mike will fight to stop the out-of-control spending that is driving up prices," his campaign website states.

"Mike believes that Energy Independence IS National Security and the Green New Deal will destroy our region. Mike knows we need to secure our border to stop the flow of Fentanyl into our communities. He will fight efforts to federalize our elections and support measures to
increase election integrity."
Lee, by contrast, is a proponent of the Green New Deal. Her website states that she wants to "restore humanity in our immigration system by ending the separation of families and reversing roadblocks for asylum-seekers and refugees." She also seeks to"end racist voter ID and
suppression laws, restore the full power of the Voting Rights Act and end gerrymandering."
Election Day is Nov. 8.
