School Van Slams Into Pittsburgh-Area Eat'n Park

Several students were injured in the accident Thursday morning.

MURRYSVILLE, PA — Three Franklin Regional High School students were taken to the hospital after a school van crashed into the Eat'n Park restaurant on William Penn Highway this morning. The van did not come to rest until it was inside the restaurant.

According to the school district, an A.J. Myers & Sons transportation van taking five students to the high school and was in the Village of Murrysville Shopping Plaza parking lot when the accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m.

Emergency medical teams arrived on the scene and took three of the students to Forbes Regional Hospital, where they were treated and released.

Eat'n Park said Thursday afternoon that the restaurant will remain temporarily closed.

"We will reopen when cleared to do so by local safety officials," restaurant chain officials said in a statement. "No team members or guests inside the restaurant were hurt. We wish the students and the van driver a very quick recovery.”
