Code Enforcement Officer Needed In Tredyffrin Township

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Tredyffrin Township is looking for someone to fill the role of code enforcement official, and the pay ranges from $50,000 to $60,000.

Sought are candidates with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, excellent customer services skills, and desire to learn new skills.

The job is full-time, non-union, and non-exempt, with benefits.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • High school degree or GED
  • Three years’ experience working with codes and ordinances (In a municipal setting preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Preferred certifications – PA Building Code Official, Certified Zoning Official
  • Ability to obtain certifications in one or more of the following preferred Building Code Official, Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, and Mechanical Inspector within 1 year of start date.

The code enforcement official is responsible for numerous duties. They include:

  • applying knowledge of the PA Municipalities Planning code, municipal zoning code and general municipal codes;
  • assisting in the review of permits for Zoning Code compliance;
  • reviewing and investigating complaints relating to potential zoning violations, property maintenance, and general township code;
  • understanding building construction methods, materials, and systems (i.e. structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical);
  • inspecting new buildings, additions to and alterations of existing buildings for code compliance;
  • administering enforcement actions against property owners, including Notice of Violations and Citations to District Court;
  • applying knowledge of PHMC’s Municipal Records Manual and Township resolutions/policies to manage records;
  • and supplying technical information and assistance to staff, consultants, property owners, developers, government agencies, and the public on matters relating to codes.
