Dogs Rescued From Icy Main Line Pond Last Week: Police
Easttown Township Police last week helped work to rescue two dogs from a semi-frozen pond in Waynesbrooke.

WAYNESBROOKE, PA — Late last week, Easttown Police officers helped rescue two dogs who were stranded on a semi-frozen pond in Waynesbrooke.
According to police, the incident happened at about 3 p.m. Friday.
Easttown Police told Patch Officers CJ Burdsall and Kevin Oreskovich and Sergeant Roy LaRue were called to the pond after a neighbor in the area called police to tell them two dogs were stuck in the pond.

The responding officers checked the ice around the pond and found it was rather thin and couldn't get too far out on it to reach the dogs, which were on opposite sides of the pond, police said.
One of the dogs was whimpering, and the rescuers focused their attention on that one first.

One of the officers took off his gear in the event he fell through the ice and managed to reach the dog in distress.
Meanwhile, neighbors in the area gathers items such as ladders and pole saws to help the officers should the need arise.
In about 10 minutes, both dogs were out of the pond and doing well.
They were taken in by a neighbor, police said. It's unclear who the dogs belonged to.
"We are grateful for the teamwork and compassion that made this rescue possible," police said. "A big thank you to everyone involved in ensuring the safety of these two furry friends!"
