'Probably:' Kate Winslet On Reprising 'Mare Of Easttown' Role

The award-winning English actress could once again break out her stellar regional accent in a potential return of "Mare of Easttown."

EASTTOWN, PA — HBO tapped into Southeastern Pennsylvania for its hit series "Mare of Easttown," starring Kate Winslet.

The 2021 series was a smash, winning numerous awards, including Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress (Winslet), Outstanding Supporting Actor (Evan Peters), and Outstanding Supporting Actress (Julianne Nicholson).

Winslet played a detective sergeant in Easttown working to solve the murder of one girl and the disappearance of another while adopting the region's very specific accent.

And while a purported "Mare" follow-up or spinoff called "Task," starring Mark Ruffalo, has been filming locally, Winslet said she may return to the role of Mare Sheehan.

In an interview with Variety, Winslet said "probably" when asked if she might ever reprise the role.

That "probably" came before a long pause and a sigh from the Academy Award-winning English actress.

"Mare Of Easttown" was created, produced, and written by Berwyn native and Villanova University graduate Brad Inglesby.

The series was filmed across in Delaware and Chester counties, as well as Philadelphia. Shooting locations included Kmart in Coatesville, Don's Deli in Boothwyn, Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia, Phoenixville, and of course Easttown.

Winslet's time in the region led her to say Wawa is "the heart of Delco."
