Chesco Man Fires Gunshots Into Building From Roof: DA

His motivation is not clear.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A Chester County man has been arrested after shooting his gun repeatedly into the air and into apartments from the top of his building and assaulting a police officer, authorities said

The incident occurred on Jan. 6 at the Glenbrook Apartments in Atlgen Borough.

Jon Muniz, 34, of Atglen, climbed up to the roof with his weapon and began firing, the Chester County District Attorney's Office said.

His motivation is not clear.

Ballistic evidence was later found in two apartments in the building where his gunshots had fired into, police said.

Police were able to take Muniz into custody before anyone was struck by the shots, the DA said.

“Residents should be proud of their police department," Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said in a statement. "They responded to a dangerous incident and quickly arrested the defendant without incident, restoring safety to the community.”

He's been charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, discharging of a firearm into an occupied structure, and related counts.

A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
