Barrington Ranked Among RI's Least Violent Communities

Barrington is among the least violent communities in Rhode Island, according to analysis conducted by golocalprov.com.  

The study used 2012 crime statistics released by the FBI earlier this week. 

Out of 37 Rhode Island communities that report crime data to the FBI, Barrington ranked 32nd in violent crimes. 

Of the 6 violent crimes reported in Barrington for the year, there were no murders or non-negligent manslaughters, 2 forcible rapes, 3 robberies and 1 aggravated assault.

Nationally, the number of violent crimes increased 0.7 percent over the previous year, according to the data.
