Boy, 11, Friends Celebrate His Mended Heart
Small gathering for Ryan Bonneau of Barrington turns into free-throw shooting party that raises cash for children's hospital.

Barrington’s Bonneau family celebrated in July the anniversary of the second open-heart surgery of 11-year-old Ryan – an event that grew from a small gathering into a free-throw shooting party and fundraiser.
Ryan’s first life-saving surgery came when he was a baby. His parents, Mark and Sara, were told he would need a second open-heart procedure at that time. It happened on July 28, 2011, according to a story in the Barrington Times.
Ryan asked mom and dad if he could celebrate the anniversary of his surgery. No problem, they said. It grew into a party as dozens of Ryan’s friends and friends of his brother stopped by to raise $500 for the “Mended Little Hearts” organization at Children’s Hospital in Boston.
