Monday Essentials: War Memories; Networking; Fiddle Festival This Week

• A mostly sunny week awaits with temperatures ranging from the low to high 70s each day; there could be scattered thunderstorms mid-week.
• Amalie Flynn of Barrington shares her memories of witnessing the 9/11 terror attack in New York City, the human cost of war, and being a military wife in her book, “Wife and War: The Memoir,” on Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Barrington Books in the Barrington Shopping Plaza; the book signing and reading starts at 6 p.m.
• The East Bay Chamber of Commerce hosts another Business After Hours networking event on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.; this event will be held at the Bayside YMCA on West Street in Barrington – call the Chamber office at 245-0750 to register.
• The farmers market at Barrington Congregational Church continues on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, but the annual summer season is winding down; don’t miss out on a chance to buy some fresh produce and baked goods.
• The third annual Fiddle ‘n Folk Fest with a host of local and regional performers takes place on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Haines Memorial State Park from noon to 6 p.m.; two fiddle workshops precede the festival at 10 a.m. — Cajun Fiddle by Michelle Kaminsky – and 11 a.m. — Improvisation Games by Rachel Panitch.
