• History of Nockum Hill was nearly lost to condominium development (eastbayri.com) — Barrington residents helped save Nockum Hill from a proposed condominium complex by approving a $1.125 million purchase of Lot 3A on George Street, preserving 6.8 acres of open space. That decision sparked archaeological work suggesting the site may mark the flashpoint of King Philip’s War, and new grants will fund further research into how the historic attack unfolded. 
• Eagles start fast against Broncos, power to 8-2 victory (eastbayri.com) — Barrington’s boys hockey team opened its Division I season with a dominant 8-2 win over Burrillville/Ponaganset, powered by six different goal scorers and 31 saves from senior goalie Noah Salois. Freshmen made a big impact in the first and second periods, helping the Eagles jump out to a 4-0 lead and secure a strong 1-0 start in league play.
