Corrections Officer Stabbed: State Police Investigating
The officer suffered a minor cut. The accused inmate was previously convicted of murdering a corrections officer.

CRANSTON, RI -- State police are investigating a stabbing at the state prison Friday morning. According to spokeswoman Laura Meade Kirk, the victim is a correctional office in maximum security. He was treated at Rhode Island Hospital for a "minor" cut and released.
The accused inmate, John Carillo, 79, will be arraigned in district court next week. He is being charged with felony assault (with a deadly weapon); assault on a correctional officer and disorderly conduct.
He is serving a life sentence for the 1973 murder of a correctional officer, Donald Price, state police said.

A spokesperson from the Dept. of Corrections confirms a Correctional Officer was assaulted and stabbed at the Maximum Security facility. The officer was not seriously injured. Awaiting more info from State Police.
