Cranston City Councilor Chris Paplauskas Running For RI House Seat

Republican Chris Paplauskas will run for the seat being vacated by state Rep. Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung, as she will run for mayor.

CRANSTON, RI — Cranston Ward 5 City Councilor Chris Paplauskas is running for a seat in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, his campaign announced Wednesday.

Paplauskas, a Republican, will run for the seat being vacated by state Rep. Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung, as she will run for mayor of Cranston.

"I am eager to bring my proven leadership and experience to work for you at the state house," Paplauskas said. "I am committed to ensure there is strong leadership advocating for small businesses, strengthening our neighborhoods, addressing issues at Meshanticut Park and will champion common-sense legislation that delivers for Cranston and improves the great State of Rhode Island."

Paplauskas was first elected to the Cranston City Council in 2014. He is now term-limited from his seat.

"I remain deeply committed to continually making you proud as an elected leader of our great city," Paplauskas said. "Together, we will propel Cranston forward and elevate our entire state to new heights of success. Reflecting on the past 10 years we have worked together, and laid the groundwork for a prosperous future."

Paplauskas' campaign kickoff event is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 7 at Tommy’s Pizza in Cranston.
