Cranston Food Stamp Fraud Foiled: Police

The Cranston woman fraudulently used food stamps, police said.

CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston woman fraudulently used food stamps, police said.

Lismeris Encarnacion, 34, was arrested shortly after 6 p.m. Friday on charges of obtaining property under false pretenses, giving false documents to a public official, fraudulently obtaining assistance and fraudulent use of food stamps, according to a media release from the Rhode Island State Police.

"This arrest was the result of a barracks investigation and (Encarnacion) turning themselves in to the Wickford Barracks," the release said.

Encarnacion was processed, arraigned and released with a court date, according to the release.
