Cranston Police: Driver Charged After Landing Pick Up In Water

CRANSTON, RI — A Taunton, Mass., man crashed a Friday night at the Rhode Island Yacht Club — literally. Cranston police Major Todd Patalano said Tom Moitoso, 42, drove over the sea wall and landed his pickup truck in the water. The accident happened around 11:47 p.m. Friday night. Witnesses told police the driver was still in the truck, but Moitoso managed to extricate himself. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police have charged him with Driving under the influence, second offense; and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.
