Cranston Police Helping With Food Drive For Veterans
Cranston police set up a drop-off box supporting Operation Stand Down's food drive in the lobby of the police station
CRANSTON, RI — Cranston police are participating in a food drive for veterans in need and have asked for the public's help in the effort.
Police set up a drop-off box supporting Operation Stand Down's food drive in the lobby of the police station at 5 Garfield Ave. The Cranston Fire Department and city libraries are also participating in the drive.
Operation Stand Down's food pantry is located at 1010 Hartford Ave. in Johnston. The pantry is available for veterans in need from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. It is stocked with non-perishables (canned fruit, vegetables, pasta, rice, etc.). Frozen poultry and meats are sometimes available as well. Grocery store gift cards are also donated often.

Veterans wanting to use the pantry must bring proof of veteran status before admittance. The food pantry is supported by donations from people and community organizations.
