Crash, Bicyclist Hit by Car; Cranston Crews Busy on Halloween

Halloween was busy for police and firefighters in Cranston, not just ghosts and goblins.

Along with large crowds at Mardi Gras Multiclub and responses to several parking lots for reports of fights or potential fights, police and firefighters were busy cleaning up accident scenes in Cranston on Saturday night.

At around 9 p.m., crews responded to a serious crash at the intersection of Phenix and Atwood Avenues.

One person was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, according to reports. No other details were immediately available.

A short time later, police responded to a report of a hit and run involving car and a bicyclist on Dyer Avenue.

The bicyclist was not critically hurt, but did suffer broken bones and other injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Police reportedly were reviewing surveillance footage in an attempt to identify the suspect vehicle that left the scene.
