PAWTUCKET, RI — A fire alarm exposed a massive marijuana grow in a former theater earlier this week, according to Pawtucket police. More than a thousand plants were found, along with close to 100 pounds of useable product.

Pawtucket firefighters were the first to find the grow operation, after a fire alarm was tripped at 172 Exchange Street, the space formerly occupied by the Gamm Theatre, around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Seeing the marijuana plants, firefighters notified the police department. While searching the building, police found 1,300 plants, 81 pounds of usable marijuana and other grow equipment, police said.
