The storm is expected to deliver anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow.

The snow is expected to be wet and heavy, which means there’s a chance of downed power lines and tree limbs. Snowfall could fall heavily during the morning hours, making for a messy morning commute.

That timing is part of the reason school officials have decided to cancel school. It also led the city to call for a citywide parking ban early on Thursday in advance of the storm. Cars should be off the streets by 7 a.m. Friday.

Sanding crews should be out in the early morning hours and plows will hit the road as soon as necessary.

With no school buses school-related traffic on the roads Friday, officials are hoping for minimal problems during cleanup efforts.

Jeffrey Barone, director of constituent affairs, asked residents to be mindful of the ban and to stay off the roads if possible.

“[The] last event went off without any problems,” he said. “All city roads will be addressed. We ask that you be patient and only go out if absolutely necessary.”
