PROVIDENCE, RI — Halloween may still be a few weeks away, but the city of Providence is already on the hunt for the perfect Christmas trees for the upcoming holiday season.

The chosen trees will be the centerpiece of the city's tree lightings on Dec. 3., with ceremonies at both City Hall and the BankNewport Skating Rink.

This year, the city is looking for three trees: a 35 to 45-foot spruce or fir tree for the steps of City Hall and two 15 to 20-foot spruce or fir trees: one for the skating rink and a third for the botanical gardens at Roger Williams Park.
