Woman Finds Hidden Note from Tom Brady in Candy at Whole Foods

It's a clever marketing trick by the makers of Unreal candy.

Sheena Gillman of Cranston got a sweet note from New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady in her candy recently.

“Everything is possible,” the future Hall of Fame football star scrawled on a signed note that was tucked in an envelope labeled “a message from Tom Brady.”

The surprise had been slipped inside an Unreal 3-D Halloween bucket otherwise stuffed with candy. She nabbed it while at Whole Foods in Cranston, one of a handful of retailers that carries the brand, which makes candy without artificial ingredients and goes organic whenever possible. It’s one of a growing number of “unjunked” food companies catering people who want natural products — a surging market.

Brady tucked surprises in a total of 50 buckets that were distributed at Whole Foods Market locations across New England.

The “everything is possible” message reflects the company’s founding principle, based on an idea that candy doesn’t have to be so bad for you.

In a video posted to his Facebook page, Brady revealed how he pulled off his Halloween quarterback sneak by donning a big Unreal Candy skull and strolling right into Whole Foods.

The company was founded in 2010 when Nicky Bronner, 13, discovered that his father had confiscated most of his candy the day after Halloween.

Telling him that it was bad for him, Bronner was determined to prove that candy can be delicious and made with natural ingredients.

The company has raised raised millions in venture capital money and has been wooing consumers with familiar shapes and flavors — think peanut butter cups and M&Ms — without the hydrogenated oils, GMOs, and synthetic food additives.

“Together, Tom Brady & UnReal are encouraging others to believe that everything is possible, just like UnReal’s co-founder Nicky Bronner proved when he set out to recreate America’s favorite candies,” a news release stated.

As for Gillman, the note was a real treat to find, especially as a Patriots fan.
