Police have arrested a man suspected of stealing wallet from two women at Dave's Marketplace earlier this year.
Joseph Mignano, 37, of West Warwick turned himself in on Feb. 8 and is currently being held at the ACI.
Police received numerous tips after circulating surveillance photos of Mignano. One such tip was from a former Providence police officer who identified the thief as Mignano.
Mignano was a Providence police officer for six years before resigning in 2008 to take a security job.
In October 2010, he pleaded no contest to two felony charges of larceny and a misdemeanor charged of impersonating an officer. He served 30 months at the ACI followed by probation and a suspended prison sentence.
Mignano is scheduled for a violation hearing on Feb. 24.
