East Greenwich Man Admits to Trafficking Narcotics

Jason Palmer pleaded guilty on Thursday in Providence federal court, the U.S. Attorney's said.

EAST GREENWICH, RI–Jason Palmer has pleaded guilty to trafficking fentanyl, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. The East Greenwich man was arrested last summer in North Kingstown. Palmer, 43, was caught during a joint investigation by North Kingstown Police and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

According to court papers, last August, an undercover informant arranged to buy five grams of heroin from Palmer. The price was $100 a gram. The informant was helping police and DEA investigate (and ultimately stop) drug sales in North Kingstown public housing. Law enforcement set him up in an apartment in the Heritage House complex. His assignment was to make friends with "individuals allegedly trafficking illegal narcotics."

Palmer delivered a drug mixture instead of the heroin, according to court papers.
