Employee Caught Stealing from EG Salon: Police

Police arrested a 44-year-old Johnston woman for allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars worth of products while working at Shimmer Salon.

EAST GREENWICH, RI—A 44-year-old Johnston woman is facing a larceny charge for allegedly stealing hair products from her employer.

Police said Mary O. Tran, 44, of 3 Norwich Drive, Johnston, stole nearly $700 worth of hair care products from Shimmer Salon and was caught on video on April 30.

Police said they arrested Tran after a traffic stop on Main Street. She reportedly had the stolen items in her car.

According to a police report, the salon owners notified police that they had video evidence that Tran was stealing and was due to leave work later that day.

Police set up surveillance and waited for Tran to leave work before the traffic stop.

Police said Tran stole three packages of hair nets, five bottles of hair coloring, a bottle of Moroccan oil, a wet hair brush and six bottles of Keratin conditioner.

Tran was booked and later released with a summons to appear in court on May 13 to face a larceny charge.
