Inductees Added to East Greenwich Wall of Honor April 13

Five inductees will be honored and one person will be the recipient of this year's Appreciation Award.

The East Greenwich High School Wall of Honor will hold their annual induction of honorees on Wednesday night, April 13th, 2016 at 6pm in the East Greenwich High School Auditorium. There will be five Wall of Honor inductees and one Appreciation Award given.

Jane Solomon Kondon who went from a stellar academic career at EGHS to more honors in college to becoming an award winning principal at Davisville Middle School in North Kingstown. She is the daughter of Leonard Solomon, a local philanthropic businessman, who is also on the wall.

James. M. Halsband who left Rhode Island for the West Coast and became a top set designer for movies and television. A man of many talents, he is involved in the martial arts through the famous Gracie Academy and set up an anti-bullying program at EGHS.

Scott Viera was an outstanding high school wrestler at EGHS and also Rhode Island College who went on to more success as a high school then college wrestling coach. Much involved in raising funds for cancer research, he un- fortunately fell to the disease himself.

Anthony Faber, a top researcher in Biological Cancer research, he has written many articles on the subject and also lectured across the country at clinics and conventions. At EGHS he was a standout athlete and helped Avenger teams to success in basketball and baseball.

Bruce Mastracchio, teacher, coach, writer, artist activist is a long time (73 years ) resident of East Greenwich, who excelled at three sports here and does all he can to give back to his community.

The Appreciation Award this year goes to Douglas E. Green, long time director of the Our Lady of Mercy Outreach Program, who gives unselfishly of his time and talents towards helping others.

The April 13th event is free and there is a free collation after in the cafeteria with food and drink provided by Wild Harvest Catering.
