Injured RI Hiker, 72, Rescued In NH

A passing hiker found the man and drove nearly ten miles before she was able to alert emergency officials.

WARWICK, RI — A 72-year-old Warwick man injured his hip and needed to be rescued while hiking in New Hampshire Tuesday.

New Hampshire Fish and Game officials said another hiker alerted them of the man's injuries around 3 p.m. The elderly man was hiking on the Champney Falls Trail in Conway, New Hampshire, when he tripped and fell.

Officials sad the man was about a half mile from the trailhead, and he didn't have cell phone service.

A passing hiker found the man and drove nearly ten miles before she was able to alert officials with the U.S. Forest Service about the incident.

When conservation officers arrived, they learned additional passing hikers stopped and helped the man. The officers and hikers worked together to help the man and bring him to the trail head. He was taken to Memorial Hospital in North Conway, New Hampshire.
