Man Arrested for DUI in Liquor Store Parking Lot
A Warwick man was seen driving over the curb in front of Thorpe's Liquors and was later arrested after police said he was intoxicated.

EAST GREENWICH, RI—A 62-year-old Warwick man was charged with driving under the influence in East Greenwich on Friday night after he was seen driving over the curb in front of Thorpe's Liquors.
Police said that Donald A. Drew, 62, of 89 Penquin Ave., Warwick, was arrested after he failed a field sobriety test.
He was also charged with refusing a chemical test.

According to a police report, two officers were approached by a witness at around 6:23 p.m. in the parking lot across from Dunkin Donuts on Main Street. The witness said that he saw a car drive over the curb and then bump the wall of the liquor store.
Drew was in the car when police arrived and he reportedly told police that he was coming from Water Street and was there to buy a few beers. The officers said they smelled alcohol; Drew said he had "a few beers" but wouldn't specify how many.

Drew reportedly told police he didn't hit anything with his car. But, according to the report, the impact with the building caused no visible damage to Thorpe's Liquors, but it did shatter Drew's license plate cover, sending pieces to the ground.
Police took Drew into custody without incident, his car was towed and he was later released with a summons to appear in District Court on Friday.
