Dog Dies After Being Shot In Head In East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence police and animal control officers are looking for the public's help in investigating the death of a dog who was shot in the head.
Police said they got a call from a Lakeside Avenue resident who said his husky, Niko, got loose on Tuesday morning. Later that evening, Niko was found, but had what appeared to be a minor injury to his head, police said.
Niko was taken to a veterinarian, who determined the husky was shot in the head with a pellet or small caliber round. He later died as a result of his injuries.

Police said they are looking for home security footage in the area of Forbes Street that could help with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Genevieve O'Connell at 401-435-7600.
