East Providence Animal Control Need's Help Finding Dog's Owner

A couple brought the dog to Rumford Pets and told the staff that they found the abandoned dog in the crate somewhere, police said.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence Animal Control on Wednesday asked for the public’s help in identifying the owner of a dog.

On March 16, East Providence police were called to Rumford Pets at 865 Warren Ave. for a report of a dog found. Animal control officials said a couple brought a small black dog in a crate to Rumford Pets and told the staff that they found the abandoned dog in the crate somewhere. The couple did not provide any additional information on where the dog was found.

Police identified the small black dog as a chihuahua. It was wearing a pink collar, but did not have any tags with information. The dog was taken to the East Providence Animal Control.

East Providence Animal Control is seeking the public’s help in identifying the dog and/or identifying the couple, as they would like to gather more information from the couple about where the dog was found.
