East Providence Launches Affordable Home Lottery

The lottery will give preference to a veteran or veteran family.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The city is launching a lottery for an affordable home, with preference given to a veteran or veteran family. The home is being offered at below market rate. Both veterans and non-veterans are encouraged to apply.

The newly renovated, one-bedroom home is located at 47 Payette St. in East Providence. It has newly installed hardwood floors, windows and lighting fixtures. The home has new kitchen appliances and bathroom fixtures. It is centrally located near the high school, senior center, shops and restaurants. Off-street parking is available.

The lottery for the home was launched by the mayor's office and the Community Development office. The project is funded through the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department's Community Development Block Grant Program.

Application and information packets, including information on eligibility, process and deadlines, are available at the following locations in East Providence: City Hall, Veterans Inc., the Planning Department, the City Clerk's Office, the Senior Center, Weaver Library, Riverside Library.

An open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 20. All submissions must be filed by 4 p.m. on Dec. 10.

The lottery drawing will be held at the Dec. 17 City Council meeting. Keys to the winner will be presented on Dec. 23.
