East Providence Man Charged In Shooting, Breaking And Entering
Police say Kevin Rodrigues, 37, was involved in an attempted break-in of an estranged family member's house in East Providence.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — An East Providence man was arrested Sunday after police said he shot a gun six times from a car before speeding and was involved in an attempted break-in of an estranged family member's house.
Kevin Rodrigues, 37, was charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle, attempted domestic breaking and entering, domestic disorderly conduct, domestic vandalism, two counts of large capacity feeding devices prohibited, and obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.
Police were called to City View Avenue early Saturday morning for a report of shots fired. Officers found a spent shell casing in the road. After a brief investigation, police said they learned six shots were fired from a black vehicle before it sped away.

Police said they later learned Rodrigues was in the area and threatened to shoot various people and engage in a shootout with police. Investigators also learned Rodrigues drove a similar car involved in the shooting and recently was in possession of several guns, police said.
Later, police said they learned Rodrigues was involved in an attempted break-in at an estranged family member’s home in East Providence on Sunday morning.

Around 5 p.m., officers searched Rodrigues' home and arrested him. Police said they seized about 700 rounds of ammunition, two semi-automatic pistols, one AR-15 rifle, a shotgun, several large capacity magazines/feeding devices, and two vials of testosterone. Officers also search Rodrigues' car and found the same type of ammunition located at the scene of the shooting, police said.
Rodrigues was arraigned on Monday afternoon and was released on $10,000 surety bail.
