East Providence Police: Man arrested on Firearm, Pot Charges
Dariel O. Luna, 18, of Providence, was arrested after police smelled marijuana in the vehicle he was driving, then found a gun, police say.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence police have arrested an 18-year-old Providence man, charging him with having marijuana in a vehicle he was driving and also having an unregistered firearm.
Dariel O. Luna, 18, of Providence, was arrested Tuesday after being stopped on Walnut Street for a traffic violation, East Providence police say.
Police say that during the traffic stop Luna appeared nervous and the officer smelled marijuana. The officer asked Luna to step out of the vehicle. Police then searched Luna's person and found a concealed firearm, police say. Police seized a pink and black CPX-2, 9mm pistol, as well as a plastic bag with what is suspected to be marijuana, and a scale, according to the East Providence police.

Police say that the firearm had been reported stolen in February 2018 in Laconia.
Luna is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, violating the requirement of having license or permit to carry a pistol, operation on a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
