East Providence Trash Pickup Delayed By Tropical Storm Henri
Pickup will operate on a one-day delay throughout the week.

East Providence, RI — Trash and recycling pickup will be delayed this week due to Tropical Storm Henri, East Providence city officials said.
There will be no trash pickup on Monday, and the rest of the week will see its collection delayed by a day.
The East Providence Senior Center will also be closed Monday in the aftermath of the storm, city officials said.

The storm swept through the state Sunday, leaving a trail of power outages and damage in its wake. At the storm's peak, approximately 100,000 National Grid customers lost power, with full restoration expected to take several days.

The storm was not as bad as it could have been, though some additional flooding could be possible with the shifting tides, said the director of the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency.

"We dodged a pretty good bullet here," Marc Pappas said.
Even as weather conditions improved, Gov. Dan McKee urged residents to stay home Sunday night, allowing emergency responders to get to work on recovery efforts.
"We'll see the green light very shortly," McKee said during his 4 p.m. news conference. "The important work of recovery must begin promptly."
