Ex-RI Pediatrician Accused of Sexually Assaulting Nursing Home Patient In East Providence
On Tuesday, Anthony Alario, 73, of Pawtucket, was indicted and charged with first-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A former pediatrician was accused of sexually assaulting a patient he knew at a nursing home in East Providence.
On Tuesday, Anthony Alario, 73, of Pawtucket, was indicted and charged with first-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault. State prosecutors said the sexual assaults happened at Tockwotton Assisted Living Facility last May.
According to court documents, Alario sexually assault an older woman in the nursing home's memory care unit on May 20. An employee of the facility witnessed the assault and reported it, prosecutors said.

Following the accusations, Alario relinquished his medical license. Alario had been licensed to practice medicine in Rhode Island since 1982. From 1985 to 2009, he worked as the Director of Academic General Pediatrics at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Alario is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Oct. 2.
