EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Fall has arrived in southern New England, which means flu season is not far behind.

Last year's COVID-19 restrictions and mask mandates meant there were hardly any flu cases in Rhode Island and around the country. This year, the seasonal virus is expected to make a comeback.

According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, the flu cases generally peak in February, though cases often start to ramp up in October.
