Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force captured the wanted shooter Friday, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A wanted Providence man who was apprehended last week had fired a gun at a vehicle just before it ran into a woman, police said.
Wilken Jean, 19, was captured by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force Friday, police said. Jean was arrested on a warrant charging him with felony assault with a dangerous weapon, using a firearm while committing a crime of violence, license or permit for carrying a pistol, firing in a compact area and simple assault.
Jean fired at a vehicle in the area of Updike and Peace streets about 6 p.m. June 17, police said.

The woman's boyfriend was also "highly uncooperative" and provided "conflicting stories," police said, at one point telling officers his girlfriend had been assaulted while trying to "break up a fight involving unknown subjects."
"After observing his own girlfriend get assaulted, (the boyfriend) claims he fled the scene," an officer said in the report. "When I questioned why (he) would leave his girlfriend behind, he became agitated and refused to answer any more questions and repeatedly accused me of questioning his intelligence."
Police said they eventually obtained a cellphone video from a witness that showed a "large altercation" and a man wearing a black hoodie and jeans firing one shot at the vehicle before it hits the woman.
