'Keep Metacomet Green' Group Files Complaint Against City Council

The complaint argues the council did not provide enough facts to back up a decision to rezone the land.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – A group of residents in East Providence has filed a complaint in Rhode Island Superior Court against the city council regarding the recent re-zoning of the Old Metacomet Golf Course.

The complaint, filed by the group "Keep Metacomet Green," argues the council did not provide enough facts to back up a decision to rezone the land at a meeting in July.

During that meeting, the city council adopted an amendment that would identify the property as a new sub-district of the East Providence Waterfront Special Development District called the "Metacomet sub-district."
