Man Dies After Car Crashes, Catches Fire In East Providence

When police officers responded to the crash, they found a sedan on its passenger side, engulfed in flames near Veterans Memorial Parkway.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A man died after his car flipped on its side and caught fire in East Providence on Sunday morning, according to East Providence police.

Around 5 a.m., emergency officials were called to a crash near Veterans Memorial Parkway and Burgess Avenue, East Providence police said Tuesday. When officers arrived, they found a sedan on its passenger side, engulfed in flames.

Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly and found a man inside the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and police identified him as Alexsander Rodriguez, 38, of East Providence.

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the crash, but they believe speed was a factor.
