Police Identity East Providence Man Killed In Thanksgiving Crash

MANSFIELD, MA — Massachusetts State Police identified the East Providence man who died on Thanksgiving after his car crashed into a tree off Route 495 in Mansfield.

State Police said the crash victim was Valdemeiro Teixeira, 39, of the Rumford neighborhood.

Around 5:30 a.m., State Police were called to a single-car crash on Route 495 southbound at mile marker 33. When emergency officials arrived, they found a 2009 Lexus sedan that had left the road and crashed into a tree. State Police said Teixeira, who was the only one in the care, was ruled dead at the scene.

The left and middle lanes of the highway were closed while emergency officials investigated and cleaned up after the crash. State Police are working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
