EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Are you looking for a new pet? The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA)may be able to help, if you want a guinea pig.

A RISPCA spokesperson on Wednesday said its pet shelter took in nearly 30 guinea pigs of different ages, genders and conditions.

RISPCA is looking for both short-term foster homes for guinea pigs that need socialization and long-term homes for those that are medically cleared.

From 10 a.m. to noon, on Feb. 26, RISPCA will host "Pigapalooza" at Rumford Pet Express in East Providence for those who want to learn more about fostering or adopting a guinea pig. Rumford Pet Express is located at 865 Warren Ave.
