Zoonotic Illnesses Temporarily Halt Pet Adoptions At RI SPCA
Rhode Island SPCA officials did not say what diseases animals are dealing with or how many are affected.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — An outbreak of zoonotic illnesses temporarily closed adoption services at the Rhode Island Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in East Providence.
SPCA officials Saturday said the facility will remain closed until Tuesday, Oct. 19. The shelter at 186 Amaral St. is still open for applications and other services.
SPCA officials did not say what diseases animals are dealing with or how many are affected.

Anyone with an approved application for adoption will receive a rain check date with their adoption at the discounted price offered by the Bissell Pet Foundation Empty the Shelter event. Promotional pricing will be honored until Oct. 31.
