EXETER, RI — Rhode Island has a storied tradition of military service, with countless individuals dedicating their lives to protecting our nation. While words can't fully capture the immense gratitude we feel for our servicemen and women, Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to highlight a few remarkable veterans and active-duty military members from our state.

Please describe the individual’s military service.

10th Mountain Division, Italy. Unit responsible for convincing Partisans. The war was over the rural mountain Italy, cut off from their command, the Partisans didn't believe the American soldiers & rained bullets down on their heads at minus zero temperatures. Corporal/Lieutenant Muller served with distinction, saving many of his brothers in arms& is buried in Veteran Memorial Cemetery, in Exeter, R.I.

Tell us about the military hero and what your community should know about them.

Father, farmer, Land Developer. All who knew him professed he was a good man. He had 9 children and he brought the 20th century to an isolated R.I community.
