Stay Out Of George Washington Campground Swim Area: RIDOH
The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended closing the George Washington Campground swimming area.
GLOCESTER RI — Just ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, the Rhode Island Department of Health recommended closing the swimming area at the George Washington Campground.
RIDOH cited "high bacteria counts" in the water as the reason for recommending the closure of the swimming area at the Chepachet campground.
RIDOH made the recommendation Thursday.

"RIDOH will continue to monitor and review beach water quality through Labor Day," the department said. "The status of a beach may change as new data become available."
