5 Things To Know Today: Feb. 7
Mohr Library explores the Harlem Renaissance, the Shape Up Rhode Island Challenge begins, and The Lion King continues downtown.

One Week 'Till Valentine's Day: With all the white stuff the last couple of weeks, it'll be a good break to see some red and pink — although, to be fair, most of the store displays have been up since Jan. 2. All this week, we'll be looking for those can't-miss Valentine's Day gifts and plans. Tell us your suggestions in the comments box.
Mohr Celebrates Black History Month: This afternoon at 3 p.m., the library hosts a look at the Harlem Renaissance, an arts and music movement during the 1920s that made Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Langston Hughes household names. Don't recognize them? Check out a book or two (and some jazz CDs) from the library. The event is aimed at students in grades 6 through 12.
Shape Up Rhode Island: Since Dec. 13, Shape Up RI has been collecting registrations for its 2011 Challenge. Today is the start date for the group's fifth annual health challenge, where participants eat healthier and exercise more and keep track of their progress. The spring program lasts 12 weeks; there's also a summer program that lasts eight weeks.
