Fourth of July Fireworks Displays Abound

While the Town of Johnston may not be hosting Fourth of July fireworks, there are plenty of nearby displays scheduled for tonight — and through the weekend.
Tonight, July 4:

Performance by the Rhode Island Philharmonic Pops Orchestra scheduled for 7:30 pm; Fireworks set for 9 pm.
To get there from Johnston: Take Rt. 6 into Providence, then I-195 East toward East Providence. Take Exit 2 (India Street) to get to the park.

The Lafayette Band is scheduled to play at 7 pm; fireworks set for 9 pm. Rain date: July 5.
To get there from Johnston: Take I-295 South to I-95 South to Rt. 4 South. Take Rt. 102 (Wickford Exit) into the village of Wickford. Beach Road is on the left.
Fireworks scheduled for 9 pm. The fireworks display can be seen from several spots around Newport and parking is available at the Visitors Center.
To get there from Johnston: Take I-295 South to I-95 South to Rt. 4 South. Take Rt. 138 to the Newport Bridge. The Visitors Center is on America's Cup Boulevard.
Thursday, July 5:
Billed as a "family-oriented Independence Day Celebration," scheduled to feature the On Line Band from 6 to 9 pm with fireworks set for 9 pm. Visit www.bryant.edu for directions to the Bryant University campus. Rain date: July 6.
To get there from Johnston: Take I-295 North to Exit 8B (Rt. 7). Bryant University is about 3/4 mile ahead on the left.
Saturday, July 7:
Scheduled for sundown (about 9 pm). Visible from East Ferry Beach and along Canonicus Avenue.
To get there from Johnston: Take I-295 South to I-95 South to Rt. 4 South. Take Rt. 138 exit toward Newport, and bear right onto the last exit before the Newport Bridge. Continue straight onto Canonicus Avenue.
